About Natalie Ruland, ARNP, FNP-BC, ANCC and Certified Health Coach
I am a family nurse practitioner and Certified Health Coach. I received my Health Coach training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. I hold a Master’s degree from The University of South Florida. My baccalaureate degree in Nursing is from Florida Southwestern State College. I currently work full time as an nurse practitioner for a primary care physician dealing with the spectrum of health issues.
I have a good grasp of nutrition science as well as the budding science of epigenetics, nutrigenomics, human microbiome, and how they go hand in hand.
Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, I was an Emergency Department nurse who has had a vast array of experience with a multitude of complex patients and their disease processes. It is here that I developed a passion for trying to understand how these (often) critically ill patients failed to reverse their conditions. Generally, their diseases worsened, leading to further diseases. Why was this happening? Had the medical system failed them or was there a lack of knowledge about their own diseases and an understanding of real-world strategies they might implement to improve or even reverse those?
Also, I grew up with a very dysfunctional relationship with food as well as a few autoimmune diseases. Because of that, I have always had a passion for the subject of health and nutrition and neuroscience (why I think the way I do). Through my own journey I have discovered many truths about modern day medicine, weight loss, and illnesses. My hope is that I may help others see those truths as well.
I am a mom of 3 teenagers. My business partner & partner-in-crime is Kevin, an Emergency Department physician. We worked together for many years in the Emergency Department and found we have similar passions. Because of our medical backgrounds, we feel that we can drastically reduce illness and improve overall weight, health, and happiness through a integrative and holistic approach.
